Welcome to Wind Energy Update
Our focus is providing business intelligence to our three core areas of the wind energy industry, Operations & Maintenance, the Supply Chain and Offshore wind development. Our customers are at the heart of what we do. As such all our news, analysis, business intelligence reports and conferences strive to produce quality content to these areas. The Way the Wind is Blowing
One of the most powerful nations on Earth has elected their next president. What does this mean for the USA’s wind energy program? Barrack Obama spoke highly of decreasing the United States’ dependency on foreign oil, something that was bound to sit well with T. Boone Pickens, but when his policy regarding renewable energy is examined closely there are noticeably few details regarding how wind energy is going to be promoted, funded and sustained.
Elsewhere, the effects of the global economic slowdown is already taking its toll on a number of industries with job losses becoming more and more of a daily worry for many. The fact is that recession is no longer a theory but a reality. Can the wind industry survive these times? It is believed that with the fears over oil, the renewable energy market should be in a strong position to capitalise. Does this mean that suddenly there are well paid, abundant jobs available to all? No, but it does mean that governments around the world need to look closely at their funding for wind energy training as the opportunity to establish a dominant market presence simply could not be better.
In the same fashion as companies cut back on their expenditure, some high profile investments have been pulled in the wind energy industry. This can be looked at as more of a knee jerk reaction than anything with firms looking to eliminate potential risk, but it also means that for the smaller wind energy developer capital is increasingly difficult to come by.
